Difference between “Extra-Wide” and “Wide” men’s shoes?

What is the difference in width between “Extra-Wide” and “Wide” men’s shoes?

I ask because my Cole Haan 13 extra-wide shoes fit a bit looser in the width and want to know if it’s safe to go from “Extra-Wide” down to a “Wide”.

Any help on the amount of differences between both widths, which I’d imagine is in centimeters/millimeters, is greatly appreciated.

In terms of measurement, that would go from a 4E to a 2E size.

If the 4E does fit looser when your feet are the most swelled, see if the 2E will fit.

The D – E- 2E – 4E measurements are pretty standard shoe widths industry-wide.
